We’re a Living Wage employer
Life isn’t just about paying bills!
We’re super proud to be an accredited Living Wage Employer, which means we’re committed to paying our lovely little sprouts the real Living Wage - which recently increased to £9.90 across the UK (except for London, where it naturally stands at £11.05 (crazy London prices!). This is different from the national Living Wage, which stands at £8.91 for those 23 and older, but is not based on the real needs of workers. We think it’s important that people are paid a wage that can actually cover all the necessities of life and a little bit more, which is what the real Living Wage is calculated to be able to do. Having a full-time job should ensure that someone is able to live comfortably, including having the funds to be able to cover surprise expenses such as a popped tyre or broken boiler. Workers everywhere deserve more.
Sprout is one of 7,000 businesses in the UK to be part of the Living Wage Foundation, joining companies such as IKEA and Nationwide. It means a lot to us to support our team properly and to give them the means to live without worrying about being able to cover any of the bills they may have. We don’t want to leave them out in the dark concerned about whether they can afford the little yet important things here and there. We also want them to be able to treat themselves too of course - life isn’t just about paying bills! Our sprouts should feel comfortable enough to enjoy the finer things when they can.
